2 Tocobo sunscreens laying on a tray

Introducing Tocobo's newest sun protection offerings, courtesy of Stylekorean and Tocobo! I'll start off by saying Tocobo did an absolutely amazing job on this new line. These two have quickly become my most used sunscreens this summer!

Let's compare!

Cica Calm Sun Serum

  • SPF 50+ PA++++ vegan chemical sunscreen

  • Contains fermented Cica Complex, hyaluronic acid complex, aloe leaf extract & safflower flower extract

  • Provides hydration, cooling, antioxidants & anti-inflammatory benefits

  • Reef-safe & suitable for sensitive skin

Cica Cooling Sun Stick

  • SPF 50+ PA++++ vegan chemical sunscreen

  • Contains fermented Cica Complex, aloe leaf extract, cornmint powder & hyaluronic acid complex

  • Provides hydration, cooling, anti-inflammatory properties, redness reduction & skin elasticity improvement

  • Reef-safe & suitable for sensitive skin

Showing the textures of both Tocobo sunscreens

As you can see, both of these sunscreens are quite similar in terms of ingredients and function, but they do have some notable differences as well, the most obvious being their format. The Cica Calming Sun Serum may be called a serum, but to be honest I found the texture to be much closer to a sun milk. It's lightweight, creamy, relatively thin, and dries to a smooth, matte finish. The Cica Cooling Sun Stick has the typical sun stick texture, applies very smoothly and also has a similar matte finish. I found both of these to be ideal for my oily skin because of their sebum controlling properties and how weightless they feel.

Korean sunscreens are notorious for their gentle, soothing formulas, and these two are no exception! They both contain a fermented Cica Complex as well as aloe leaf extract to keep skin calm and soothed. The Cica Cooling Sun Stick has the added benefit of cornmint powder, which provides a subtle cooling effect, making it a perfect summer option. The 10-layer Hyaluronic Acid Complex in both of these gives a nice boost of hydration as well.

In conclusion, these were both immediate holy grails for me and exactly what I look for in a sunscreen. The perfect combination of soothing hydration plus sebum controlling properties made these my most used sunscreens this summer!
