What Is Super Milk?
Before I get into my review, let's go over the product that inspired this release to begin with, Lush's Super Milk Conditioning Hair Primer! This product is essentially a leave-in conditioner that adds a boost of hydration, shine and moisture to dry hair with a formulation of almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk and lemon juice. It also happens to smell absolutely incredible, so good that many users were using it purely for its scent, even using it as a body milk! To me, Super Milk smells like the most beautiful creamy, milky vanilla, infused with spicy cinnamon and the tiniest hint of fresh lemon. It's also one of my most complimented fragrances, despite being a leave-in conditioner! From first use, I knew Super Milk would be a dream fragrance of mine.
What Is Lush x Community?
Lush is one of those brands that really takes their customers opinions into consideration. So much so that they began releasing surveys on Discord and Youtube to find out what we really want in terms of fragrances and products. The community votes and Lush eventually releases a Lush x Community line of limited edition products that are typically gone for good once they sell out. That's how the first Super Milk perfume came to be back in November 2023. Sadly I missed out on that, but thankfully it ended up being so popular that they decided to do another Super Milk community release back on November 27th of last year. I made sure to set an alarm and grab a couple of bottles this time around!
The Review
Lush describes this scent as 'A moreish blend of candy-coconut with biscuity citrus and almond' and litsea cubeba oil, tonka absolute and vanilla absolute are the main fragrance notes.
I didn't pick up a ton of lemon in the hair primer, but this perfume is a whole different story. While I found it smelled very, very close, it was noticeably more lemony! For me, the opening note is a burst of fresh, sugary lemon that eventually fades into that familiar creamy, spicy vanilla I love so much. This perfume isn't the longest lasting on me, which surprised me given how potent most of Lush fragrances are, but hours later I can still detect a lovely soft vanilla, even more so if it's been sprayed on my clothes. It's a very warm and cozy scent that I feel most gourmand lovers would appreciate.
All in all, I felt this was a really great attempt at turning Super Milk into a perfume and I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I can only hope we continue to see more Super Milk scented products in the future!
