Decoding Collagen
Collagen is a debated ingredient in the skincare industry due to the lack of research and conclusive evidence regarding its ability to penetrate the skin barrier because of its large molecule size. This uncertainty can lead to confusion surrounding anti-aging claims. In this blog post, I will discuss my favorite collagen creams from Medicube and go over the specific types of collagen they contain. Additionally, I will provide a creative recipe guide featuring both products, allowing you to create the perfect customized potion for your skin type!

Triple Collagen Cream, formerly known as Triple Deep Erasing Cream, quickly became a favorite soon after I started using it. Although it is thick and rich, it feels light on my skin and absorbs quickly, making it suitable for both day and night. Packed with beneficial ingredients, this cream has been very gentle on my sensitive skin. The type of collagen this cream contains is called desamido collagen!
Desamido collagen is a modified form of collagen that has undergone chemical changes to enhance its moisture attracting and retaining abilities. While further research is needed to determine if this form of collagen can penetrate deeply enough into the skin to stimulate collagen production, it does have numerous other benefits. This type of collagen is a great humectant, which helps skin attract and retain moisture. It’s also known to form a protective film on the skin to prevent moisture loss and strengthen the skin barrier, as well as improve moisture levels and skin elasticity. Some studies suggest that the hydrating properties of desamido collagen may also help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Key Ingredients & Functions
Contains 98% freeze-dried hydrolyzed collagen, hydrolyzed elastin, niacinamide, blueberry extract, hyaluronic acid & squalane
Improves skin elasticity & fine lines, brightens & strengthens the skin barrier
Suitable for all skin types
The Collagen Jelly Cream has been hugely popular on social media recently, and what first drew my attention to it was its stunning color and unique texture. Surprisingly, the pink color comes from the natural vitamins infused into the cream! While the thick jelly-like consistency absorbs nicely, it does leave a slight stickiness behind. Because of this, I prefer to incorporate this product into my nighttime skincare routine, where it functions exceptionally well as an overnight mask that leaves me with hydrated, plump and glowy skin by morning. However, if you love a dewy, glassy appearance, you may just love this as a daytime cream as well. Although I haven't yet tried Medicube's Age-R Booster, I've heard that it complements this cream excellently. Medicube asserts that absorption is boosted by 490%, a claim I can't personally confirm. The type of collagen in this cream is freeze-dried hydrolyzed collagen!
Freeze-dried hydrolyzed collagen, also known as collagen peptides, is a form of collagen that has been broken down into much smaller peptides. It works in a very similar way to Desamido collagen, as it also forms a protective film on the skin and has great humectant properties. Limited studies have shown that its smaller size may allow for better penetration, although research is needed to know how deep that penetration goes.
Collagen Swirl Recipe
One of the highlights for me was discovering how well these creams work together after becoming a fan of both! According to Medicube's website, it is suggested that these products can be mixed to create a customized glow-boosting blend tailored to your skin type or specific daily requirements. I've very much enjoyed using these creams individually as well as in combination!
The ratios are as follows:
Oily Skin: 2 parts jelly, 1 part cream
Normal & Combo Skin: 1 part jelly, 1 part cream
Dry Skin: 1 part jelly, 2 parts cream
